Top Ideas for Ringing in the New Year!
2023 wasn’t the best year for a lot of people and you’re certainly not alone if you’d like nothing better than to kick 2023 to the curb and say hello to 2024. So, for this post I thought I’d share some of my top ideas for ringing in the new year with rejuvenation in mind.

Are you looking for some inspiration to help you recharge and get excited about the upcoming year? It can be tough, especially if last year drained you emotionally, mentally, or physically. The possibilities are really endless but largely depend on your interests and situation. In this post, I’ll share a few of my top ideas for ringing in the new year to get your wheels spinning.

Start a New Habit
Ready to kickstart the new year with a game-changing habit? A simple tweak in your routine can have a profound impact on your life. Maybe it’s committing to a daily stretch, practicing gratitude, or trying out a morning meditation routine. These small changes can work wonders, nudging you toward becoming the best version of yourself. Personally, I plan to re-establish my morning yoga routine and take more breaks from my computer during the day. How about you?

If starting a new habit has been a challenge for you in the past, you may want to check out The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg and Atomic Habits by James Clear. I found both books to be tremendously helpful and find myself rereading them when I want to start a new habit or quit a habit that is not serving me well.
Ring in the New Year by Planning a Trip
Planning a trip is another fantastic activity that can do wonders to rejuvenate one’s body, mind, and spirit. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love to make travel plans, probably even more than I like to actually travel. They give me the opportunity to imagine wonderful sights, fantastic art, amazing food, and interesting people.

When I’m in this phase of planning, I envision the perfect experience–the weather is amazing (to me), everyone is enjoying themselves, no one is sick, traffic is a breeze, and flights aren’t delayed. Heck, if I’m being totally honest, I’d envision myself teleporting to the destination. Whether I actually go or not, I love planning the trip and look forward to the possibility of experiencing something fabulous.

When the cold, rainy and overcast days in the Pacific Northwest get too dreary, I might just have to plan a trip to Costa Rica. Who’s with me?
Take a Class

Taking a class where you don’t just learn, but also create and mingle can be an incredible experience. It’s not just about mastering a skill; it’s about the fun of crafting, chatting, and connecting with others who share your passion. Whether you’re stirring up sauces or painting canvases, these classes are hubs of creativity and camaraderie. Over the years, I have taken several pottery classes at a couple of different community centers and have loved all of them–they feed my soul.
Join a Group to Ring in the New Year
If taking a class is a bit too structured for you, joining a group or trying out a meetup might be more to your liking. It could be a book club discussing gripping novels, a hiking group exploring scenic trails, or a tech meetup sparking innovative conversations.

These gatherings aren’t just about the activity; they’re about finding your tribe, exchanging thoughts, and forging connections. Whether you’re geeking out over a shared passion or simply enjoying good company, these groups offer a space to grow, learn, and thrive alongside others. In the past, I have participated in social meetups and hiking groups and found them both enjoyable. Perhaps you will too!
